Rob Hemelrijk 707 recollections – Part 2

Back in August 1981 I visited the aircraft storage facility at Marana airfield, Arizona. There I was able to capture the wonderful American Eagle B707-321B registered N404PA. Alongside it stood an American 707-123B with tail code N7572A. It didn’t have the familiar tailfin antenna, I always wondered why?

Wondering through the hot and dusty desert had its additional dangers. To make a good picture of the American Eagle 707 I had to bend down on my knees in the bushes, with the change of being bitten my a rattlesnake! We were offered to stay overnight at the Evergreen Air Center, which is located at Marana. And the following morning at opening the curtains I was gazing at several American Airlines 707 tail fins….aahhhh what romantic.
